Tuscaloosa 2011 Federal Building
The Points in Time murals bring historical painting into the Tuscaloosa Federal Courthouse. The series approaches the region’s past through populated scenes, using gesture, setting, and light to give the narrative an immediate human scale.
Large compositions must communicate across an architectural space while retaining the detail that rewards a closer look. In these paintings, figures lead the viewer into the scenes and connect individual encounters to a broader history. The courthouse becomes a setting in which art and civic life meet, giving visitors time to consider the place and the people around them.
