Minerva

Minerva rises in an expansive gesture, her flowing drapery carrying the movement of the figure toward the owl above her. The composition draws on the classical association of Minerva with wisdom, translating that idea into a physical act of release and ascent.

Seen in silhouette, the sculpture has the lightness of a figure suspended in motion. Closer views reveal the modeled anatomy and the folds that connect the body to the surrounding space. The work brings together the discipline of figurative sculpture and an imaginative departure from ordinary gravity.
